By: The Citizen
Offshoot Productions' comic improvisation troupe, the Gallery Players, will entertain audiences at the Fayette Art Center and Gallery on Friday, Feb. 1, at 7 p.m., in a fund raiser to benefit both nonprofit organizations. Dessert and beverage are included in the admission cost, which is $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Seating is very limited, providing an intimate atmosphere in which the audience may interact with the performers. However, it also means that early reservations are advisable. Players include Parks Stamper, who appeared in Offshoot’s “Audition for Murder,” “But Was It Murder?” and last fall’s “Fairy Tales for Grownups.” Stamper has acted at a number of Atlanta-area theatres, including Jack in the Black Box and Theatre with a Mission. An on-air talent for 104.7 The Fish, she holds a B.A. in theater from the University of Tennessee. Andy Fleming, who performed in Offshoot’s tremendously successful “Fairy Tale Project,” brings a musical theatre background to the production, including performances in “Big River,” “Tommy” and “Jesus Christ Superstar.” Paige Steadman, a composer and Offshoot’s musical director, co-authored “Audition for Murder” and wrote the script for Offshoot’s touring production of “The Frog Prince.” She has acted in numerous shows ranging from Shakespeare to commedia dell’arte, and performed her music at the Georgia Renaissance Festival and at other theatre companies. Darren Mathews, who joined Offshoot’s ensemble last fall, has appeared in “One Flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest,” “Picasso at the Lapin Agile,” “Tempest,” “True West” and other plays. Reservations may be made at the Fayette Art Center and Gallery, located at 2011 Ga. Highway 54 W, by phone at 770 631-2780 and by email at fayetteartcenter@bellsouth.net.
