Former resident Landers promoted at recent ceremony

Major Kevin Landers was promoted to Lt. Col., at a ceremony held at Ft. Bragg, N.C. on Monday, Dec. 3. Landers, son of Jim and Becky Landers of Peachtree City, is a 1990 graduate of the University of Georgia where he was a Distinguished Military Graduate.

Upon receiving his commission to 2nd Lt. in December 1990, Landers started his Army career. Landers served in Somalia and Iraq during his 17-year career. Landers is expecting to return to Iraq in the spring 2008.

Currently, Landers is the Executive Officer of the 30th Engineer Battalion and Deputy Brigade Commander of the 20th Engineer Brigade, Ft.Bragg, N.C.

During his career, he has served as a Combat Engineer Company Commander and Deputy Inspector General while stationed at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo.

Landers is married and the father of five children.
