New York artist Laura Loving, originally from Fayetteville, Ga., is currently exhibiting a selection of her original paintings at Saks Fifth Avenue in Atlanta through Feb. 9. The exhibit is a preview to The Trinity School's annual fundraiser, "Spotlight on Art", sponsored by Saks Fifth Avenue. Saks Fifth Avenue is located at 3440 Peachtree Road in Phipps Plaza and is open Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday 12:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Spotlight on Art is the Trinity School’s acclaimed art event and fund-raiser. Now in its 27th year, Spotlight on Art is considered to be one of the top elementary school fund-raisers in the country. Proceeds from the event will fund Trinity School student financial aid and continuing education for teachers.

This year a donation will be made to The Joseph Sams School of Fayetteville, Ga. The Joseph Sams School Inc., is a private, non-profit school serving children ages 2 to 15 who have mild to severe intellectual and or physical disabilities.

Following the Saks Fifth Avenue preview, the Spotlight on Art artist market will be held Feb. 19-23 at the Trinity School’s campus, located at 4301 Northside Parkway. The artist market will feature more than 7,500 pieces of fine and decorative arts, crafts, jewelry and garden decorations from 300 established and emerging artists. Laura Loving received her bachelor of fine arts from the University of Georgia. Painting with enamel on canvas, she has developed a distinctive style consisting of bold lines, dramatic surface patterns and pure color that result in vibrant paintings with a certain poetic energy. “My paintings are an invention of reality rather than purely an exact imitation. I exaggerate color and shape to create art that is humorous, alive and uplifting. Without question, I believe making a connection with someone through a painting is the best part of being an artist,” Loving says.

Loving has exhibited in solo and group shows throughout the United States and abroad. In New York, she has shown at Lincoln Center’s Cork Gallery, Pratt Institute, Strut Gallery, Anthem Gallery and Trunkt Gallery. In 2005, she was hired to create the artwork for the Fall Cabaret Convention at Jazz at Lincoln Center.

In Europe, she has shown with the Wonderwall Gallery in Cirencester, England, and Chaleurs du Sud in Nice, France. In Atlanta, Laura was commissioned to create the official serigraph for the 1998 Music Midtown Festival. The Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children in Orlando, Fla., has acquired several of her paintings for their permanent collection.
