Fayette BOE looks at salary studyMon, 01/07/2008 - 10:32pm
By: Kevin Wandra
Dr. Dennis Fordham, a salaried consultant, stood before the Fayette County Board of Education Monday night and presented a salary study update that compared the salaries of various school officials in Fayette County to those in eight surrounding counties. The study featured a comparison of the salaries of various positions, including elementary school, middle school and high school principals, as well as registered nurses. It also included a comparison of each county’s student population and property wealth (the number of dollars raised per mill per student). Fayette was compared to eight other counties in the study: Clayton, Coweta, Douglas, Forsyth, Fulton, Hall, Henry and Rockdale. “We want to see if we have any issues that need to be addressed,” Superintendent Dr. John DeCotis said. “We want to look at how we compare to other systems.” Fordham said he expects his study to be completed by Feb. 15. Earlier in the meeting, the board voted 3-2 to re-elect Chairman Terri Smith and Vice Chairman Lee Wright to their currently held positions. Board members Marion Key and Bob Todd were the dissenting voters. login to post comments |
