I liked the punch line in Wednesday’s political cartoon, “Lots of Republicans actually believe their religious stuff,” no doubt implying that those of the Democratic Party persuasion pay just lip-service to their religion.

There was a time when I used to believe that one could be a morally straight, ethical person, willing to serve one’s country and community, no matter what political party or religion he or she “played” for, if any.

Over the past 15 years or so, the “Holier than Thou” Party has set me straight on that. What was I thinking?
