Basketball teams throughout the state have their eyes on the prize — winning a state title. But first each team has to survive the second half of the season in the new year. Four days later, the Patriots and Lady Patriots travel to Tallapoosa to play region rival Haralson County, the first of three consecutive road games for both Creek teams. Creek’s two other road games will be against region rival Central, Carroll (Jan. 12) and crosstown rival McIntosh (Jan. 12). Creek then finishes the regular season by playing eight consecutive region games: Villa Rica (Jan. 15), at Cartersville (Jan. 18), Cedartown (Jan. 22), at Carrollton (Jan. 25), at Cass (Jan. 29), Haralson County (Feb. 1), Central, Carroll (Feb. 5) and at Villa Rica (Feb. 8). The Patriots and Lady Patriots will play in Region 6-AAA tournament Feb. 12 at Haralson County. The Landmark Christian War Eagles and Lady War Eagles open the new year Jan. 4 at home against Region 5A-A rival Eagles Landing Christian, and play the following day against non-region rival Chestatee at home. Both Landmark teams hit the road Jan. 8 to face their biggest rival, Our Lady of Mercy, then the boys play play two straight region games on the road, Whitefield Academy (Jan. 15) and Eagles Landing Christian Academy (Jan. 18). The rest of the Landmark boys and girls schedule is as follows: at Fellowship Christian (Jan. 19), Greenforest Christian (Jan. 22), at Bremen (Jan. 26), Our Lady of Mercy (Jan. 29), at Southwest Atlanta Christian (Feb. 2), Whitefield Academy (Feb. 5) and at East Coweta (Feb. 8). The Lady War Eagles have two additional games not listed on the boys schedule: Jan. 12 at W.D. Mohammed and Jan. 24 against W.D. Mohammed. Creekside’s boys and girls begin the new year Jan. 8 at Region 2-AAAA rival Woodward Academy. Their region schedule continues three days later at home against Westlake. The Seminoles and Lady Seminoles then play two more region games — Jan. 15 at Northgate and Jan. 18 against Fayette County — before playing non-region foe Tri-Cities Jan. 19. Their next two games, both at home, are against region rivals Banneker (Jan. 22) and Whitewater (Jan. 25). And then they travel to play Tri-Cities Jan. 19. The rest of Creekside’s boys and girls schedule is as follows: Banneker (Jan. 22), Whitewater (Jan. 25), Tri-Cities (Jan. 26), Starr’s Mill (Jan. 29), at McIntosh (Feb. 1) and Woodward Academy (Feb. 8). login to post comments |
