Local players make impact for their college football teams

Here are the final season stats for local players playing in college:

Fayette County:
Grant Jones, tight end, West Georgia: two catches, 28 yards.

Jonathan Loving, defensive lineman, Georgia Southern: four total tackles, one half-tackle for loss.

Brandon Truesdale, cornerback, West Virginia State: six interceptions, 53 total tackles, one
tackle for loss, 13 passes defensed, one fumble recovery and one forced fumble.

Channing Welch, defensive end, Furman, 18 total tackles, six tackles for loss, one sack, one fumble recovery.
McIntosh

Jake White, tight end, LaGrange College: one catch, seven yards.

Brett Buehler, defensive back, LaGrange College: one tackle, one for loss.

Sandy Creek

Stephan Atrice, cornerback, Air Force: one tackle.

Larry Beard, defensive lineman, Georgia Southern: eight total tackles, one tackle for loss, one sack, one quarterback hurry.

Brian Brown, linebacker, Delaware: 20 total tackles, one fumble recovery.

Reggie Ellington, running back, Charleston Southern: 12 carries, 44 yards, one catch, five yards.

Andrew Gardner, offensive tackle, Georgia Tech: Started all season at left tackle.

Gerren Griffin, safety, James Madison: four total tackles.

Josh Haney, wide receiver, the Citadel: 18 catches, 254 yards, one touchdown, one carry, three yards.

Josh Houston, wide receiver, Birmingham-Southern: three catches, 39 yards, one touchdown.

Chris James, defensive back, Gardner-Webb: 22 total tackles, one for loss.

Will Judson, wide receiver, Illinois: six catches, 30 yards, one kickoff return, 15 yards.

Michael Lockett, defensive tackle, Wake Forest: five total tackles, one half-tackle for loss, one forced fumble.

Corbin Miles, cornerback, Tennesse Tech: seven total tackles, one half-tackle for loss, one pass defensed.

Starr’s Mill

Ryan Barr, wide receiver, Bloomsburg University: six catches, 68 yards.

Deante Battle, cornerback, Northwestern: 64 total tackles, two tackles for loss, one sack, one interception, six passes defensed, one forced fumble.

Johnny Edwards, defensive back, Wingate College: 36 total tackles, one interception, two passes defensed, two fumble recoveries.

Chad Gloer, defensive back, Georgia: named Outstanding Special Teams Scout Team Player recently at Georgia’s awards banquet.

Ryan Gloer, linebacker, Shorter College: 66 total tackles, four-and-a-half tackles for loss. Named Mid-South Conference’s West Division Defensive Player of the Year, and was selected to the Mid-South All-Conference team and All-Academic team.

Chris James, kicker, Western Kentucky: made 14 of 21 field goals and was successful on 42 of 45 point-after attempts.

Kenneth James, linebacker, Shorter College: 19 total tackles, two tackles for loss, one interception.

Ryan Mullikin, linebacker, U.S. Coast Guard Academy: one tackle.

Andy Smith, offensive guard, Memphis: Started all season at right guard. Named to the All-Conference USA Coaches first team and the All-C-USA Media second team.

Austin Watts, defensive lineman, Georgia Southern: one tackle.
