Everything comes to an end. That was the case at the Dec. 18 council meeting as Union City Police Chief Mike Isome announced to the mayor and city council that he would be resigning effective Dec. 29. A life-long resident of Union City except during his college years, Isome served in the city’s police department for 31 years. Citing a medical condition as a part of the reason for his decision, Isome thanked Mayor Ralph Moore, the city council and the community for their support over the years. “It is with a heavy heart that I tender my resignation,” Isome said with emotion. “This has been a labor of love. I feel my decision is in the best interest of the city and the police department.” Isome was not the first in his family to serve in law enforcement in Union City. The chief said his grandfather had also worked in the department until his retirement. Moore said the city would consider a replacement for Isome beginning in January. login to post comments |
