Fire Dept. to resume water-based training, testingThu, 12/20/2007 - 5:32pm

The Peachtree City Fire Department is resuming its mandatory fire training and device testing this month, which had been on hold for some time to help conserve water. A few changes have been made to help save more water, as the testing of fire hoses and aerial devices has been relocated to the south end of Lake Peachtree so the water can be recaptured into the lake. The training is mandated by the state as certifications must be kept current and crews must have proficiency with their equipment to keep the community safe. The fire department will continue to limit fire hydrant testing during the drought in the knowledge that the whole community has been asked to make water usage cuts also. While the fire department continues to use its burn building for training, not much water is used to put out those fires, as they are normally small to begin with, said Assistant Fire Chief Peki Prince. login to post comments |
