Animal shelter offers help for adoptionsThu, 12/20/2007 - 5:12pm

The Fayette County Animal Shelter is participating in a holiday Adopt-A-Thon Dec. 15-22. In addition to having a certified adoption counselor available, those adopting cats or dogs will get a free DVD on how to properly train the animal, said shelter director Miguel Abi-Hassan. Abi-Hassan encourages anyone wanting to consider pet adoption as a Christmas gift to avoid waiting until the last minute. The goal is not just to find good homes for the pets, “but to keep them there,” Abi-Hassan said. The cost of adopting pets is $5 for kittens and puppies, $15 for cats and $20 for dogs. In addition, adopting families receive a 50 percent discount with local veterinarians for spaying and neutering and a 25 percent discount on their first veterinary visit. login to post comments |
