Beginning in 2008, parents with children who are new to the Coweta County School System will have a centralized location to register students for their districted school.

The school system’s Central Registration Office at 167 Werz Industrial Drive will begin handling all new student registrations beginning January 2, 2008.

Werz Industrial Drive is off Millard Farmer Boulevard/Highway 34 bypass, near Bullsboro Drive in Newnan.

In the past, registration of new students has been handled at each individual school.Beginning January 2, registration will no longer be available at schools, but will be handled at the new central registration office.

The registration center will only handle new registrations. Current students disenrolled after December 18, 2007 because of the school district affidavit process will have to be re-enrolled at their districted school, beginning January 2.

Parents can call the office at 770-254-5551 for appointments or for more information. Central registration appointment hours will be 8 a.m-noon, and 1:30 p.m.-4 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The center’s registrar urges parents to call for an appointment to reduce wait times.

Information about registration and directions to the Central Office can also be found at www.cowetaschools.net/registration. Online forms are available at the site for parent convenience.

Registration procedures have not changed otherwise. Coweta’s 27 regular program schools operate on a district basis. To find out what school districts serve a home address, parents can call 770-254-2820.

Students must be five years old by September 1 in order to enroll in kindergarten and six years old by September 1 to enroll in first grade, per state law.

Pre-Kindergarten registration will still be handled at the schools, during the spring Pre-K enrollment period.
