Churches schedule Christmas servicesTue, 12/18/2007 - 5:28pm

Churches all over the south side will prepare for Christmas with religious services on Christmas Eve and some on Christmas Day. The following churches in the Fayette area have announced their holiday events. • All Saints Anglican Church will have two Christmas Eve Masses, beginning with a Children’s Pageant/Mass Monday, Dec. 24, at 5 p.m. and Carols and Mass at 10:30 p.m. On Christmas Day, Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. All Saints is at 303 Kelly Dr., Peachtree City. • Bethany United Methodist Church will have a Christmas Eve service Monday at 6 p.m. Bethany church is on the corner of Rivers/Milam Road and Lee’s Lake Road in north Fayette County. Email Bethanymnc@bellsouth.net. • Carriage Lane Presbyterian Church will have a Christmas Eve Candlelight Service Monday, Dec. 24, at 6 p.m. The church is at 101 Carriage Lane, Peachtree City. For information, call 770-631-4618. • The Catholic Church of St. Gabriel in Fayetteville will celebrate Christmas Eve Masses at 5 p.m. (Children’s Mass), 8 p.m. and midnight (both Vigil Masses). The Solemn Mass of Christmas will be celebrated Christmas day at 10:30 a.m. St. Gabriel’s church is at 152 Antioch Rd., south of Fayetteville just off Ga. Highway 92 South. For information, call 770-461-0492. • Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Peachtree City will host Christmas Eve Services on Monday, Dec. 24 at 4:30, 6:30, 7, 8:30, and 10:30 p.m. and 12:15 a.m. with Holy Communion and special music at each service. A nursery will be provided for each service except 8:30 and 10:30 p.m. On Christmas morning, worship and Holy Communion will be held at 10 a.m. followed by coffee and cookies. Casual dress is encouraged. Christ Our Shepherd church is on the corner of Ga. Highway 54 and Peachtree Parkway. For information, call 770-487-8717. • Christ the King Charismatic Episcopal Church will have two Christmas Eve services with carols, the Christmas scriptures, and Holy Communion at 6 p.m. (designed with children in mind) and 9 p.m. (candlelight). The church is at 4881 Ga. Highway 34 East, Sharpsburg. • Dogwood Church in Tyrone will have Christmas Eve Services Monday at 3, 4:30 and 6 p.m. The church is at 975 Ga. Highway 74 South. For information, call 770-461-1756 or visit www.fayettecommunity.org. • The Senior Adult Choir at Fayetteville First Baptist Church will present “The Spirit of Christmas,” a concert of Christmas music combining timeless classics with newer songs Sunday, Dec. 23, at 6 p.m. A Candlelight Christmas Eve service will be held at 6 p.m. Monday evening. The church is on Stonewall Avenue about a block from the old courthouse. For information, call the church office, 770-461-8378. • Fayetteville First United Methodist Church will host a Christmas Candlelight Concert in the chapel featuring Rick Massengale and Sonia Squires Sunday, Dec. 23 at 6 p.m. Christmas Eve Candlelight Services will be held Monday, Dec. 24, at 4, 6 and 11 p.m. in the sanctuary. Childcare will be available at 4 and 6 p.m. The church is at 175 East Lanier Ave. (Hwy. 54), Fayetteville. For information, call 770-461-4313. • First Baptist Church in Peachtree City will have Christmas Eve Candlelight Services Monday, Dec. 24, at 4 and 6 p.m. The church is at 208 Willowbend Rd., just off Hwy. 54. For information, call 770-487-8133. • First Presbyterian Church in Peachtree City will have two Christmas Eve Services, a contemporary service from 6-7:30 p.m. and a traditional service from 8-9:30 p.m. Services will feature the First Presbyterian Praise Band and the Sanctuary Choir. The church is at 206 Willowbend Rd., Peachtree City. For information, call 770-487-7757. • Flat Creek Baptist Church will have a Christmas Eve Candlelight Lord’s Supper at 5 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 24. There will be no evening service on Sunday, Dec. 23. Flat Creek Church is on Flat Creek Trail between Hwy. 54 and Tyrone Road. • Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Peachtree City has scheduled several Masses at several locations for the Christmas weekend. Christmas Eve Masses will be held at the church, 101 Walt Banks Rd. next to McIntosh High School, on Monday at 4 p.m. with the SonShine and Messenger choirs, at 6:30 p.m. with the Youth Choir, at 9 p.m. with the Jubilation Choir/Bells, and at midnight with the Adult Choir. Holy Trinity Masses also will be held at McIntosh at 4 p.m. with the EDGE Band, and at 6:30 p.m. with the Life Teen Band. At the Starr’s Mill location, Holy Trinity will celebrate Mass at 4 p.m. with the Celebration Group. On Christmas Day, Holy Trinity Masses will be held at 8:45 and 10:30 a.m., and at 12:15 and 1:45 p.m. The 1:45 Mass will be in Spanish. There will be no Life Teen Mass on Christmas Day. • Jonesboro First Baptist Church will have a Christmas Eve Service at 5 p.m. on Dec. 24. The church is at 147 Church St., Jonesboro. A service will be held at 5 p.m. at the North Campus, 551 New Hope Rd., Fayetteville. A service will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the South Campus, 1563 Joel Cowan Pkwy. (Hwy. 74), Senoia. No childcare will be available at these services. • New Life Ministries in Fayetteville will have a Christmas Day Service Tuesday morning at 8 a.m. The church is at 265 N. Brett King will lead worship with traditional and contemporary Christmas music. Both services will feature a family-friendly candlelight service, and communion will be served. Traditional Christmas Eve Candlelight Services will be held at 7, 9 and 11 p.m. in the sanctuary and will feature the pipe organ and special music. Prince of Peace is on Hwy. 314 between Lowe’s and The Pavilion. For the 4 p.m. Family Service children are encouraged to dress up like shepherds, donkeys, sheep, cows, wise men, or angels using items from around the house like scarves, robes, socks, paper crowns, glitter and garland. There will be two identical traditional Candlelight and Communion Services at 6 and 8 p.m. which will include Christmas hymns, a message and Holy Communion. Southside Baptist is at 1332 Hwy. 85 South, one and a half miles south of the Fayetteville city limits. • St. Christopher’s Hellenic Orthodox Church in Peachtree City will have a Christmas Eve Vigil on Monday, Dec. 24, with Service of the Great Hours of the Nativity at 8:30 a.m., Vespers at 9:30 a.m., Orthros at 8 p.m., and Divine Liturgy St. John Chrysostom at 9 p.m. St. Christopher’s is at 313 Dividend Dr. in Peachtree City’s industrial park. For further information, visit www.saintchristopherhoc.org. • Members of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Coweta County will celebrate their first midnight Mass in their new sanctuary this year. The Christmas schedule includes Masses celebrated on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, at 4 p.m., a Family Mass at 6 p.m., and Mass at midnight. At 11:30 p.m. Christmas Eve, a special musical program will be presented prior to the beginning of Mass featuring The Waves of Grace, a new ecumenical group of young dancers. On Christmas morning, Mass will be celebrated at 9 and 11 a.m. The church is at 3 Village Rd. off Ga. Highway 154 (McCollum-Sharpsburg Road) and Ebenezer Church Road, one driveway past the fire station. • St. Paul Lutheran Church in Peachtree City will have a Christmas Eve Candlelight Service at 6 p.m. on Dec. 24, and a Christmas Day Service with Holy Communion on Dec. 25 at 10 a.m. Both services will be on the lower level of the worship center.
