Two local shoppers have had their wallets stolen out from under them by a deceptive pair in Peachtree City stores, police said.

One of the suspects would distract the women while the other grabbed their wallet out of their purse, which was in the women’s shopping carts, said Police Maj. Mike Dupree.

One of the incidents happened at The Avenue shopping center and the other happened at the Ross Department Store, police said.

Police are asking residents to keep a close eye on their belongings as it can be easy to get distracted while shopping. Police urge all suspicious activity to be reported immediately.

Officers are also urging residents to secure their belongings by locking automobile doors and making sure all valuables are stored inside, particularly overnight. Auto doors should especially be locked while shopping, as shopping bags inside cars can make easy targets for thieves when doors are left unlocked.
