Chamber honors small businessesTue, 12/18/2007 - 5:00pm

The Fayette County Chamber of Commerce announced the 2007 Small Business of the Year recipients at their Annual Small Business of the Year Awards Luncheon held at Whitewater Creek Country Club. The Small Business of the Year Award is given to recognize the exemplary business practices and innovation exhibited by a small business. Nominated businesses were judged on the following criteria: business plans, goals, performance, growth, vision, economic impact, civic activities, Chamber involvement and contributions to the community. The winner of the 2007 Small Business of the Year Award for an organization with one-15 employees was Club Z! In-Home Tutoring Services. The company provides one-on-one instruction for students in grades K-12 in the comfort of the student’s home, at schools, after school facilities, libraries, or community centers. Business owners Joe and Peggy Thomas not only support education through their franchise, but they also are active supporters and participants in the Fayette County Partners in Education program. In the category of organizations with 16-50 employees, ServiceMaster Commercial Services was named the 2007 Small Business of the Year. Franchise owners Bruce and Beth Brooks have been providing commercial cleaning services to the Fayette County area for approximately 7 years. Both Bruce and Beth are passionate about providing exceptional customer service to their clients and making a positive impact in the community. This year’s nominated businesses included Linda Mackey Insurance; Peachtree City Golf Cars, Inc.; Club Z! In-Home Tutoring Services; Outpatient Imaging, LLC; ServiceMaster Commercial Services; Jim Mothorpe, National Financial Services Group; Progressive Techniques, Inc.; and the Law Office of John B. Miller. The Fayette County Chamber of Commerce is an association of businesses and organizations that work together to promote economic prosperity and to enhance our excellent quality of life through strong leadership, networking, education and a variety of programs that encourage partnerships between businesses and our community. 2007 Small Business of the Year Winners from left; Club Z!
