I am writing on behalf of my friend and fellow Republican, Heidi Becker, who is running for state House of Representatives in District 72.

Heidi is well known for going out to the public and private sector to raise awareness and funds for those in need so that they are not a burden on our government, giving people “a helping hand up, not a hand out.”

I first met her when she came to me asking for my support on behalf of her client, Christian City. She was putting together a gala to benefit the children living in the cottages at Christian City’s Home for Children.

Later, she asked to use my event facility for a fund-raiser for Promise Place, the Council on Domestic Violence for Fayette County. The goal of the event was to raise funds to open a new emergency shelter for women and children in crisis, and with Heidi’s help they were able to do so.

That same year, Promise Place held their Christmas party at my Tyrone Depot and recognized Heidi for her volunteer work.

When there needs to be something accomplished in Fayette County, Heidi is a fighter and a tireless worker with the ability to work with all kinds of people. She worked with Rep. Dan Lakly and other state legislators to obtain grant money for the Promise Place shelter.

She has worked on many other projects with the mayor and City Council of Fayetteville, the mayors of Tyrone and Peachtree City, the district attorney, the public defender, various county commissioners and many others through her volunteer work and her public relations firm.

I wasn’t surprised when Heidi announced her run as a Republican for the state House because she has helped many Republican candidates behind the scenes with their campaigns. She publicly supported Sonny Perdue, even attended his inaugural ball.

She is a familiar face around Fayette County, widely known for her involvement in the community and her conservative values. I am asking all my friends in District 72 to cast their vote for Heidi on Dec. 18.
