Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Peachtree City will offer Love Feasts in Moravian Tradition on Saturday, Dec. 15, and Sunday, Dec. 16. A pre-service Musical Offering, featuring the church’s Clarinet Choir, Joyful Noise Handbell Ringers, Flute Choir, Brass Choir and Love Feast Consort, will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday and 5:30 p.m. on Sunday. Introits are 30 minutes later.

A tradition of the Moravian Church since 1727, Love Feasts include serving specially-baked buns and coffee or apple juice to worshipers. All adult worshipers will be given a lighted beeswax candle dressed in a red paper “ruff.” Children will substitute a small flashlight for a candle.

Love Feasts include traditional and Moravian carols sung by everyone. Featured also will be anthems by Sanctuary Choir and Da Chiesa, the strings ensemble, along with all the groups listed above.

Karl Dietmeyer founded and conducts the choirs of clarinets, flutes and brass, while Kathy Rothfusz conducts the brass in the Musical Offering.

James C. Hagberg conducts Da Chiesa. Along with Minister of Music David Beecher, Dietmeyer and Hagberg conduct Sanctuary Choir. Some of the soloists are Norman Roobol, Delee Rehak, Pastoral Intern Pauline Pezzino, Dewey Patrick and Amelia Merriman.

The church is on the corner of Ga. Hwy. 54 and Peachtree Parkway.
