The McIntosh High School men swimmers defeated The Woodward Academy men’s team by a narrow margin at a duel meet last week at Woodward. The overall team victory went to Woodward based on their stronger women’s results, including diving.

In the 200-medley relay, the men’s team took first (junior Alex Harmon, junior Adam Otaki, sophomore Jim Roddenbery and freshman Jack Beall) and third (seniors Brian Forsyth and Paul Beall, junior Josh Day and sophomore Lukas Love). They also took first in the 400-freestyle relay (Harmon, Otaki, Roddenbery and Jack Beall) and second in the 200-freestyle relay (seniors Chris Larson, Corbin Heard and Tyler Cordell and Love).

In the individual events, Harmon took firsts in the 200-freestyle and 500-freestyle. Jack Beall was first in the 50-freestyle, Otaki was first in the 100-butterfly and Roddenbery took first in the 100-freestyle.

Senior Keaton Hannon led the McIntosh women with firsts in the 100-butterfly and 200-individual medley. Freshman Ariann Berg also took two firsts in the 500-freestyle and 100-breaststroke. The women won the 200-medley relay (Hannon, Berg, junior Ariane Leblond and sophomore Chanel Raines) and finished second in the 400-freestyle relay (Hannon, Berg, Leblond and junior Sarah Trapaga).
The Chiefs will compete next at the first Clayton County Invitational on Dec. 8.
