All the basketball teams that were in action on Tuesday night faced region opponents and several teams either swept or got swept.

The McIntosh boys and girls traveled to Whitewater and won their games.

The Lady Chiefs (2-3, 2-3 region) won 26-20. Whitewater led until the fourth quarter, but McIntosh outscored the Lady Wildcats 13-4 in the final quarter to pick up the win. Erin Justice scored nine of her 13 points in the fourth quarter, while Whitewater (4-4, 1-1 region)was led on the night by Kait Loewecke’s nine points.

In the late game, the Chiefs (2-3, 2-3 in the region) took advantage of countless Whitewater (1-5, 0-1 in the region) turnovers and utilized their size at both ends of the court to turn in their most impressive performance in recent memory.

By the end of the first quarter, with McIntosh already holding a double-digit lead, 22-8, it became apparent that Whitewater was in for a long night.

McIntosh continuously pounded the ball inside to its big men, Robert Chubb, Patrick Michel, Mikey Thomason and Carson Crandall, none of whom Whitewater could contain. McIntosh’s size advantage, coupled with errant passes and overall sloppy ballhandling, was too much for Whitewater to overcome.

The Chiefs held a whopping 32-point lead (57-25) at the end of the third quarter and cruised the rest of the way.

Chubb led McIntosh with 11 points. Thomason had nine, and Jake Tanis, Isaac Woodley and Vince Brown each added seven for the Chiefs.

Renaldo Jenkins was Whitewater’s high scorer with 13 points. Chris Asbury added nine.

McIntosh will host Starr’s Mill tonight, while Whitewater will host Creekside. McIntosh will host East Coweta on Saturday.

Northgate took on Westlake and both the boys and girls lost. The Lady Vikings (2-5, 1-3 region) fell 54-40 with Natalie Pluskota scoring 18 points, while the boys (1-5, 1-3 region) lost 70-38, with Marquez Mobley leading the Vikings with 17 points.

Northgate will play at Newnan tonight.

East Coweta took on Morrow on Tuesday and got swept as well. The Lady Indians (0-3, 0-1) region) lost 53-35 with Christian Ezell leading the team in scoring with seven points. The boys (1-4, 0-1) lost 69-52 with Justin Taylor leading the team with eight points.

East Coweta will play at Hiram tonight and McIntosh on Saturday.

Fayette County swept their games with Woodward Academy on Tuesday. The Lady Tigers (6-1, 4-0 region) won 48-34 with Anma Onyeuku leading the way with 16 points and Sasha Sims chipping in 10. The boys (6-1, 4-0 region) won 91-57. They built a 47-26 lead by the half and cruised to the victory. Noel Johnson had 39 points, 24 of which came from three pointers, while Brandon Boykin added 10 points and 10 assists.

Fayette County will host Westlake tonight.

Our Lady of Mercy split their games with Whitefield Academy. The Lady Bobcats (2-2. 1-0 region) won 36-33 behind 11 points from Kelly Tolcher, while the boys (3-1, 0-1 region) lost 75-64. The Bobcats were only down by four points with under two minutes to play, but foul trouble cost them dearly and Whitefield pulled away.
Our Lady of Mercy will play at Galloway tonight and at Fellowship Christian tomorrow.
