Cassie McDonald crowned Miss Northgate

On Saturday, Nov. 10, amid the lights and excitement at the Coweta County Centre for Visual and Performing Arts, Cassie McDonald was crowned Miss Northgate 2007. Others recognized at the competition were first runner up Amanda Bennett, second runner up Edy Robinson, senior princess Katie Douglas, junior princess Amber Poindexter, sophomore princess Amanda Mills, freshman princess Jayde Bennett and Miss Photogenic Maci McRae.

Thirty four young ladies competed this year for the coveted title, appearing both in casual and evening wear. The participants were judged not only on their appearance but also on their responses to student-generated questions related to issues facing today’s youth.

McDonald described herself as “confident, caring and very determined.” After graduating from Northgate High School, she will attend Valdosta State University to further her legal studies in hopes of completing her dream in opening her own law firm.

Donald White, pageant coordinator, stated, “The 10th year of the Miss Northgate Pageant was one of the most exciting in its history. The largest field of contestants coupled with the largest crowd of attendees produced what I believe to be the most dynamic program ever. It was a night of greatness both for the pageant and for Northgate High School as whole.”

The Miss Northgate Scholarship Pageant is a fund-raiser for the Northgate Soccer Program.
