The route for the 2008 Tour de Georgia was announced Wednesday morning and it doesn't appear to be going through Fayette County. Peachtree City had the official start of the race last year and Fayetteville was a stage start for the two years prior to that.

The route this year is: Tybee Island - Savannah, Statesboro - Augusta, Washington/Wilkes County - Gainesville, Road Atlanta Team Time Trial, Suwanee - Dahlonega, Blairsville - Brasstown Bald, Finish with circuit race in downtown Atlanta.
