Rotary celebrates 40 years in Peachtree City

Mayor Harold Logsdon presented a 40 year anniversary proclamation to the Rotary Club of Peachtree City during a recent city council meeting at City Hall. Many Rotarians were in attendance for this special occasion including some of the club's early members.

Club president David O'Rear thanked Logsdon for this special recognition and thanked those in the community for their support over the years in terms of their contributions to the service projects that Rotary has worked on.

“That support allows our club to place so many additional resources back into the community that may not have otherwise happened,” said O'Rear.

The Rotary Club of Peachtree City celebrated 40 years of service to the community on Nov. 13. Officially chartered on November 13, l967, the Rotary Club of Peachtree City has the honor of being the first service club established in Peachtree City and the oldest club in Fayette County.

The four avenues of Rotary are: Club Membership, Vocational, Community and International. Projects range from a float in the Fourth of July parade, partnerships in education with local schools, designing and constructing the "Welcome to Peachtree City" sign that introduces all local organizations, to a final countdown in the eradication of Polio worldwide.

During the last 40 years, local Rotarians have made many important contributions, which have improved the lives of others here at home, in neighboring communities, the State of Georgia, in the country as a whole and worldwide.

They continue to support local schools, youth activities, senior services, health care institutions and provide relief from natural disasters and other misfortunes. They enable people from around the world to study together and work side-by-side in humanitarian service. The local club is one of 70 central and southwest Georgia clubs that comprise the award winning Rotary District 6900.
