Jacqueline Fawaz, an instructional paraprofessional at Spring Hill Elementary School of Fayette County Schools, has been selected to receive a PAGE Support Personnel Scholarship. The scholarship, which celebrates the important contributions support personnel make to education, is given each year by the Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE) Foundation. Fawaz is a resident of Fayetteville, and is pursuing a Master of Education in Early Childhood Education at Mercer University in Atlanta, Ga. The $1,000 scholarship is awarded to outstanding PAGE members who are pursuing education degrees to teach in Georgia’s classrooms. Tom Wommack, president of the PAGE Foundation, noted that each year PAGE awards more than $15,000 in scholarships. “Our 72,000 PAGE members know and appreciate the important role that support personnel play in education, and we are proud to recognize these individuals through our scholarship program,” Wommack said. Through its sponsorship of Future Educators Association of Georgia (FEA of GA), Student Professional Association of Georgia Educators (SPAGE) and PAGE Foundation Scholarships, the PAGE Foundation works to recruit capable people to the teaching profession and provide career-long professional learning opportunities for educators. The PAGE Foundation also sponsors academic competitions for students including PAGE STAR (Student Teacher Achievement Recognition), the PAGE Georgia Academic Decathlon (GAD) and the PAGE Academic Bowl for Middle Grades. login to post comments |
