The McIntosh High School wrestling team traveled to Dacula High School on the Thursday before Christmas to compete in the Falcon Duals and finished with two wins and three losses on the day. The Chiefs earned wins against Forest Park and a tough Salem squad after falling to Jefferson, and then losing two close matches to Flowery Branch and host Dacula. “This is a very tough tournament with teams from northeast Georgia that we typically do not come up against in our regular season,” said Coach Nick Bellantoni. “Jefferson is one of the toughest wrestling programs in the state and although we lost the match I wanted our team to see what it takes to compete at that level. I am happy we came, it is tough to go home with a losing record for the day, but it causes us to develop as a team.” The team was led by sophomore Richard Hughes (112) with a perfect 5 – 0 record on the day including two pins. Wrestlers with three wins and two losses were Jarrod Chamblee (103), Alan Sarvis (119) Matt Penn (145), Matt Carroll (189) and Jonathan Smith (275). The Chiefs will be back in action today at the Etowah Duals in North Georgia. login to post comments |
