By: The Citizen
The Peachtree City Hillbillies raised over $1,600 for Fayette County Special Olympics on Saturday, Nov. 3. The dinner theatre was performed at Christ's Church at Whitewater and featured ribs from Smokey Bones and dessert courtesy of Golden’s on the Corner. Beverages were supplied by Chick-fil-A Towne Center. The show was sponsored by FC&A Publishing and Dr. Taylor Dominy. Six Special Olympic athletes, David Washburn, Rose Godfrey, Glenn Terry, Buddy Croft, Paulette Bass and Shannon Waldrop, performed a skit to warm the audience up. Robin Camp, a Special Olympics volunteer, also performed in the skit. Then the Hillbillies took the stage. The audience did their part by acting out such roles as “Paris Marriott” and “Jimmy Tuffet.” One lucky audience member was awarded a gift basket full of goodies from Plumyumi Day Spa. The show was produced by Fourth Wall Productions, and was directed by Joey Waldrop. The cast included Kathy Padia as “Smelly May,” Cynthia Fox as “Brenda Blevins,” Josh Radcliffe as “Uncle Ted,” Andrew Detterbeck as “Chief Squatting Dog,” Joey Waldrop as “Cornrow” and Joel Anderson as the assassin from Coweta County. All the proceeds from the event went directly to Fayette County Special Olympics. Fayette County Special Olympics serves more than 200 intellectually disabled athletes of all ages.
