A young artist from Fayette County High has been selected as one of 50 finalists whose artwork will be featured in a juried exhibition at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD)-Atlanta.

An oil pastel self-portrait by high school senior Hannah Lee will be on exhibit at the SCAD-Atlanta campus January 28-February 9, 2008 as part of the college’s annual Georgia High School Drawing Competition. She is the only student from the school system to be juried into the exhibition.

As a top finalist, Hannah is a contender for one of 10 scholarships to attend SCAD-Atlanta, SCAD-Savannah or SCAD-eLearning. The jury will select the 10 best entries for scholarships valued from $1,500-5,000 per year and renewable until completion of a bachelor’s degree. Scholarship winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on February 9.

Approximately 458 entries from 85 high schools throughout Georgia were submitted for this year’s competition that honors talented visual art students and the art educators who skillfully guide them toward success.
