Pioneers send three runners to national championships

Pioneers to Kansas

The 2007 USATF Junior Olympics Region III XC Championships were recently held at Clinton Preserve Farm in Douglas County.

Teams from Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Washington D.C., Maryland and Virginia competed for the top 30 individual positions in the boys and girls divisions and the top three team positions as well.

SouthSide Pioneers had three individual finishers:
• Jared Cooper, a junior at Our Lady of Mercy (OLM), placed fifth in the Intermediate Boys Division, with a personal best time of 16:28.91.

• Thomas Raville, an OLM senior, place sixth in the Young Men’s division with a personal best time of 16:22.65.

• Angelea Patitucci-McCaugherty, a senior at Pike County High School in Zebulon, Ga., placed sixth in the Young Women’s division with a personal best time of 21:18.51.

All runners will represent Georgia and compete at the 2007 USATF Junior Olympics National XC Championships to be held Dec. 8 at the Rim Rock Farm in Lawrence, Kansas.
