It may be one of Fairburn’s final city council meetings of the year but it will contain plenty of action. A sampling of the Nov. 26 agenda includes work related to the new college campus, a decision on landfills and transfer stations, along with several proposals annexations and a de-annexation.

Perhaps the most significant portion of the agenda, in terms of long-term impact, will be a potential vote to award the contract for design and construction of the first phase of the college campus on West Broad Street.

The four-acre campus will be located on the site of the old Dodson Lawn & Farm Equipment business. The first phase will consist of two 18,400 square-foot brick classroom buildings, an 11,400 square-foot administrative building and two 2,000 square-foot retail buildings.

Also significant Nov. 26 will be consideration of a text amendment to the city’s M-2 (Heavy Manufacturing) zoning ordinance. Council members will consider removing landfills and transfer stations from the ordinance. Provisional uses for such facilities may be considered at a later date.

Also at the meeting, the council will conduct public hearings on annexations of Green Oil Travel Center on Ga. Highway 74 and a one-acre tract at 7685 Fayetteville Road and a de-annexation request of an 18-acre tract on John Rivers Road.
