Money will be used to take kids on holiday shopping trips with officers

This year some needy children in Fayette County will have a chance to do some Christmas shopping with a sheriff’s deputy.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Department is seeking monetary donations for the “Shop with a Sheriff” program.

The department has partnered with Promise Place to help children who in some cases escaped an abusive environment to a protective shelter with nothing more than the clothes on their backs.

The children will make a wish list of items they want for Christmas and they will shop with a uniformed officer to purchase the items with the donations received.

Donations can be mailed or dropped off at the sheriff’s department at 155 Johnson Avenue in Fayetteville. Checks should be made payable to “Shop with a Sheriff.”

This is the first year the sheriff’s office has participated in the program. For more information, contact Det. Joshua Shelton at 770-716-4777.
