Palmetto Police are still searching for two armed robbers that held up DJ’s Grocery II Oct. 25.

Detective John Cooper said Thursday the men entered the store on Main Street with handguns drawn at approximately 11:30 p.m. The men ordered the two clerks to lock the door and surrender the store’s money, Cooper said.

Cooper said the robbers were described as black males, with one 5”10”-6’0” and 170-200 pounds while the other was 5’8-10” and 150 pounds. Both men wore stocking masks, Cooper said, with the larger man wearing purple gloves and the smaller man wearing black gloves.

The men left the store with an undisclosed amount of cash and phone cards, Cooper said. Also stolen in the robbery was a car belonging to one of the clerks, said Cooper. The vehicle was spotted approximately 10 minutes later at the old Peach Mart store by an off-duty Fulton County deputy, said Cooper.

Sgt. Mike Upshur and Officer Rebecca Spratlin responded to the armed robbery.

Cooper said a reward is being offered by the store’s owner. Anyone with information relating to this incident is asked to contact Det. John Cooper at (770) 463-9068.
