Pfeifer Building Co., Inc. was recently honored as one of the top 500 remodeling firms in the U.S. by Qualified Remodeler Magazine. The national trade publication lists the top remodeling firms in the country by volume of work performed, in their annual Top 500 edition. Pfeifer Building Co., based in Peachtree City since 1997, was ranked # 457. The firm is a full service residential and commercial remodeling company. They handle a multitude of home improvement services, from very large renovations to very small repair work, and have now made Qualified Remodeler Magazine’s Top 500 four times in the past ten years.

“We’re very proud to be recognized nationally, of course, but we are not out to be the largest remodeling company”, said Duey Pfeifer, of Pfeifer B.C. “The real reward is to have a good reputation locally”, he added. Pfeifer relies primarily on referrals and word of mouth advertising. As long-time members of the Midwest Ga. Homebuilders Association and the National Assoc. of Home Builders Remodelors Council, the company prides itself on its professional approach. “I think now, more than ever, homeowners just want to be treated fairly”, said Mr. Pfeifer……. “They want good work done in a timely manner.” Pfeifer says the secret of their success is teamwork. “The guys on the jobsite make it happen. We have maintained a great reputation for so long because of them, and great office staff support”, he said. “Most of the guys have been with us 8-10 years, and that’s unheard of in the construction business”, he said.

July 31 of this year was a noteworthy milestone for Pfeifer B.C. It was the day they officially opened their doors in 1997, marking their ten year anniversary. Prior to July 31, ‘97, Pfeifer & partner Greg Creighton, were merely “part-timers” in the home improvement business, as Pfeifer puts it. He and Creighton had come from building new homes for years, mostly in Peachtree City, when they decided to team up in early ’97.

“It took us awhile to get our feet wet, and learn the business”, said Creighton. “The differences between building new homes & remodeling are huge”, he added.”

Ironically, today Pfeifer B.C. finds itself competing against “part-timers”. Downturns in new home construction usually spawn many of what Pfeifer calls, “temporary remodelors”. In 1997, the new homes business was thriving, and would be for years to come. “But we got into remodeling because we liked it, and saw a big need for a professional company in an industry that has always had to overcome the unprofessional stigma”, Pfeifer said. “We are exactly where we had hoped to be after 10 years……. That is, well-established and planning to be here for 10 more years”, said Creighton.

Pfeifer Building Co., Inc. has worked on more than 600 homes over the years, primarily in Fayette & Coweta counties, and many commercial projects as well. In addition, they have donated their services to local community efforts like Habitat for Humanity, and the Fayette Care Clinic.

“We take on a lot of work because we can handle it, and we know what we’re doing”, said Duey Pfeifer.
