Local churches announce their New Year’s weekend activities

Many churches in the Fayette area will return to their regularly scheduled services on New Year’s Day (Sunday) and some have planned activities for ringing in the new year on Saturday evening, New Year’s Eve.

The following churches have announced their schedules and activities:

• Peachtree City United Methodist Church will have services at 9:30 and 11 a.m. on New Year’s Day with nursery provided. Sunday school will be held at both hours.

• Bethany United Methodist Church will have Watch Night activities on New Year’s Eve but no time had been set at press time. For information, call the church office, 770-964-6999 or 770-964-6992. Bethany is at 607 Rivers Rd. (corner of Rivers/Milam and Lee’s Lake roads) in north Fayette County.

• The Body of Christ Church International, U.S.A., will have a Watch Night service Saturday, Dec. 31, at 10 p.m. and a New Year’s Day service at 10 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 1. Sunday evening, Jan. 1, Minister Alvin Slaughter of Alvin Slaughter Ministries in New York will appear in concert 7 p.m. Childcare will be provided for all services.

• Christ the King Charismatic Episcopal Church will have one service on New Year’s Day, scheduled for 11 a.m. Father David Jones of Newnan will be the chief celebrant, with the morning message brought by Father David Epps.

The church is on Ga. Hwy. 34 between Peachtree City and Newnan.

• Fayetteville Christian Church will have lock-in for the youth on New Year’s Eve. Activities will begin at 7 p.m. Saturday and will conclude after morning worship on Sunday. The New Year’s Day worship service will be at 10:30 a.m. No Bible Fellowships are scheduled.

• Fayetteville First United Methodist Church will have services at 8:30. 9:45 and 11 a.m. on New Year’s Day. The church is on Lanier Avenue (Ga. Hwy. 54), across the street from the Fayette County Courthouse. For information, call 770-461-4313.

• First Presbyterian Church of Peachtree City will have one service at 10:30 a.m. on New Year’s Day. Communion will be served. Nursery will be provided. No Sunday school classes will be held .

• New Beginnings Praise and Worship Center will have a Watch Night service at 10:30 p.m. on New Year’s Eve. New Beginnings is at 101 Kenwood Rd., Fayetteville. For information, call 770-460-1346.

• Redemption Fellowship Church will have a New Year’s Eve Celebration service Saturday, Dec. 31, beginning at 10 p.m. The celebration will include praise and worship, celebration and food.

• St. Christopher Hellenic Orthodox Church will have a special family gathering to celebrate New Year’s on Dec. 31. The congregation meets at 313 Dividend Drive, Peachtree City. Contact Tammy Soulakos, 770-487-1004, for further details.

• St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Sharpsburg will celebrate New Year’s Day Mass at 10 a.m. at East Coweta High School on McCollum-Sharpsburg Road (Ga. Hwy. 154).

• St. Matthew Catholic Church’s New Year’s Mass schedule includes Saturday, Dec. 31, Vigil: Mary the Mother of God, to be held at 5 p.m.

On Sunday, Jan. 1, Mary the Mother of God/Feast of the Holy Family will be celebrated at 10 a.m.
