The McIntosh Lady Chiefs lost to the Starr's Mill Lady Panthers several times this season including in the area championship a few weeks ago. Yesterday though, McIntosh shed the monkey from their back that was continually losing to Starr's Mill and defeated them when it counted the most, winning the Class AAAA state title. The first state volleyball title in school history.

The Lady Chiefs dispatched Starr's Mill in four games of a best of five series, winning 25-20, 23-25, 25-21, 25-21.

The two teams had swapped the top in spot in the Class AAAA polls throughout the season.

Sandy Creek played in the Class AAA state final earlier in the afternoon and lost in three games to Columbus, 25-19, 25-22 and 25-15.
