Teamwork will provide Christmas for those in need

The Fayette Alliance Coordinating Teamwork Outreach and Resources (FACTOR) has announced plans to provide Christmas for Fayette citizens in need and the project coordination is now underway. This year, local churches networking with FACTOR will be the administrators of Community Partners Christmas Program, a community-wide Christmas event.

FACTOR created a unique system involving volunteers from the business community, individual citizens and the churches of the community and divided the county into three population segments using zip codes. Local churches will administer the program to the families that fall witin their zipcode.

By visiting FACTOR’s website, www.gafcp.org/fnetwork/fayette, information can be found about the program including instructions for potential sponsors, applications to sponsor a child/ family for the Christmas season and information for citizens needing this service. Interviews to determine eligibility for the program will be held at Fayetteville Christian Church, Tyrone Recreation Department and Peachtree City United Methodist Church on November 3 and 10 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Residents wishing to apply should come between the hours listed and must bring the following information with them:

• Proof of residence: a September or October utility bill--a driver's license is not proof of residency. Free/reduced school lunch eligibilty letter is accepted;

• Proof of income--TANF; social security; SSI letters; October pay stubs or unemployment; alimony and/or child support. (Please bring free/reduced school lunch eligibilty letter if applicable.);

• A birth certificate or social security for each child and adult in the household;

• A valid driver's license or state ID card for person making the application;

FACTOR anticipates approximately four hundred families in Fayette needing these services for the upcoming Christmas season.
