The Newnan-Coweta Art Association (NCAA) is celebrating Christmas in October. NCAA’s annual Christmas Artist Market is a three-day event today through Sunday. Fine art, crafts, gift items plus refreshments and children’s activities are all planned throughout the weekend. Held at the historic Train Depot in downtown Newnan, admission to the Christmas Artist Market is completely free. The public is invited to come out and get a head start on their holiday shopping. Ample on-site parking, also free, is available. Friday and Saturday show hours are 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. On Sunday the show is open from noon until 5 p.m. Attendees can enjoy refreshments as they browse original paintings, prints, photography, jewelry, crafts and other gift items. Artists will be present to represent their work. The historic Train Depot is located between East Broad and Washington Streets in downtown Newnan. The street address is 60 East Broad Street in Newnan. The depot is home to the Newnan History Center. Today it is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to encourage and aid artists to produce original works of art of every type and character, including but not limited to painting, sculpture, ceramics, wood craft, drawing and metal crafts; furnish the auspices for the display of such works in Coweta County and elsewhere; foster education and instruction in the creation and appreciation of works of art. The association supports the arts in Coweta schools through annual donations and scholarships to high school students pursuing the arts in college.
