• Frederick chosen as scholarship recipient

Erica Frederick, of Peachtree City, Ga., has been selected by the College of Business Administration of Georgia Southern University as the Mark Anderson Scholar for 2007-2008. This scholarship is awarded for academic achievement. Frederick is a 2005 graduate of Starr's Mill High School and is a marketing major. She has been on the president's list for the last four semesters for maintaining a 4.0 GPA. Frederick is the daughter of Mark and Cindy Frederick.

• Capati named to dean’s list

Sarah Capati of Peachtree City was named to the dean’s list at Berry College in Rome, Ga. for the fall 2006 semester. Capati is pursuing a double major in business management and Spanish. She is a 2006 graduate from Starr’s Mill High School, where she was a member of the varsity soccer team. She is now a member of the Berry College soccer team. She is the daughter of Kevin and Janet Capati of Peachtree City, Ga.

• Tyler graduated from basic military training

Air Force Airman Steven M. Tyler has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization, and military customs and courtesies; performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises, and special training in human relations. In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force. Tyler is the son of Tony Tyler of Spring Lake, N.C., and Jane Tyler of Fayetteville, Ga. The airman is a 2006 graduate of Overhills High School, Spring Lake.
