Beginning in November, Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Peachtree City will host Rainbows, a program for that fosters emotional healing for grieving children of elementary and middle school age.

Founded in 1983 by Suzy Yehl Marta, a divorced mother who was trying to help her sons, Rainbows has helped more than 1.8 million children across the U.S.

Designed for children who are grieving a deep loss, the program “instills in children a belief in their goodness and the value of their family. Rainbows also offers children the perspective that change in life is an occasion for new beginnings,” a spokesperson said. The program is a confidential peer support group guided by trained adult facilitators. However, Rainbows is not group counseling or therapy.

Weekly sessions will begin in November and continue after the school holiday break. Specific session dates and times will be determined by the needs of the families involved.

Families, friends, or neighbors whose children have experienced a deep loss from a family member’s death, divorce, terminal illness, or other significant loss are encouraged to participate in Rainbows.

For more information or to register for the program, contact the Holy Trinity Rainbows coordinator, Melinda Kantor, 404-918-5992 or 770-631-0187.
