The area 2-AAAAA tournament title will be decided tomorrow night, while the area 4-AAAA and the area 3-AA/A tournaments will begin on Saturday. By this time next week, a number of local teams will have punched their tickets to the state playoffs in their classifications.

In 2-AAAAA, Fayette County and Starr’s Mill are both going to play in the AAAAA state tournament. It just hasn’t been decided who’s the number one seed in the region. That will be determined tomorrow night with the match bethween these two schools starting at 6:30 p.m.

In last Saturday’s tournament action, Starr’s Mill defeated East Coweta, 25-18 in both games, and defeated Union Grove, 25-10 and 25-15.

The region 4-AAAA tournament will start on Saturday morning at Woodward Academy. Sandy Creek and Mcintosh both have games on Thursday night as a warm up for the tournament. The Lady Patriots, who lost to Lithia Springs, 25-13 and 25-16, and beat Whitewater, 25-23, 25-10 last Thursday, will play at Mays, while McIntosh will play at Washington. The area tournament will start at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Landmark Christian lost to Woodward Academy last week, 25-14, 21-25, 25-10. They will play in the area tournament at The Lovett School at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Our Lady of Mercy will also play in the area tournament at 1 p.m.
