The Fayette Branch of the NAACP teamed up with the Fayetteville Best Buy to assist local Whitewater High School student Edmund Smith and his family after their home was devastated by a lightning strike in a recent storm.

Smith is straight-A student at Whitewater and has earned numerous awards for his academic achievement as well as first place awards for his participation in science fairs.

Smith’s computer was destroyed in the fire, so the NAACP Youth Committee started the search for a replacement. Fortunately, Best Buy agreed to furnish a computer and printer through the local NAACP Branch.

The Smith family is also in dire need of clothing for the entire family, two adults and four children.
