Fayette-Starr's Mill Chapter, DAR attend state society workshop

Five members from the Fayette-Starr's Mill Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, of Fayette County recently attended the NW Georgia state society workshop in Gainesville. State officers and chairmen spoke on ways chapters can serve in their community and offered hand-outs and suggestions.

Those in attendance included second vice regent Jo Ellen Carter, chapter chairman Joanne Underwood, regent Carol Abadie, registrar Judy Hughes and treasurer Dian Cole. The chapter was notified by the state regent that the entry of member Anne Houston in the American Heritage Fiber Arts category, cross-stitch, won honorable mention in the nation.

The theme was "A Heritage Remembered." The chapter was also notified that at the July 2007 national conference that the chapter was fourth in the nation for most new members by application in 2006 in their category of 26-50 members. There are 3,000 chapters in the nation.

Fayette-Starr's Mill Chapter presently has 69 members with 16 pending. A lady is eligible to join if she can document a Revolutionary War soldier or patriot who served from 1776-1783.
