On perhaps one of the busiest days of the holiday shopping season, northbound traffic on Ga. Highway 85 north backed up late Thursday morning due to another damaged water pipe.

Cars approaching the break, which was at the Mrs. Winners restaurant, were routed into the center turn lane while crews worked to fix the problem. The two-inch line caused about 10-15 businesses to lose water service, including Mrs. Winners and Wings and Things restaurants.

The work was anticipated to be complete by 4 p.m.
