All schools, churches, families and organizations located in Fayette County are invited to participate in Fayetteville’s traditional Great Pumpkin Walk around the Old Courthouse Square on Fri., Oct. 26. Pumpkins should be placed on the courthouse grounds by Thurs. evening or Fri. morning before noon. Please display a sign with your organization’s name and designate someone to visit the square on Fri., Sat. and Sun. evening to light the candles in your pumpkins. “It’s great to see the public come out and support the children and all of their hard work creating their pumpkins,” stated Nancy Price, Main Street director. “I encourage all groups and even individuals and families to participate to keep this long-standing tradition going. We get visitors from all areas of Georgia driving to our square to see the pumpkins aglow.” The event is sponsored by Main Street and can be a great fundraiser for your organization. Prizes to the organizations displaying the most decorated pumpkins include first place $300, second place $200 and third place $100. Ribbons will go to individual pumpkins for “Most Creative”, “Scariest”, “Funniest” and “Best All Round”. If your group or family would like to participate, please call Main Street at 770-719-4173. login to post comments |
