FCHS Select Chorus gears up for another stellar year and Europe tourTue, 10/09/2007 - 4:46pm

The FCHS Select Chorus will return to Europe in April 2008. This will be a 10 day educational concert tour full of performances and sightseeing in Germany, Austria and Prague. Select chorus is one of five choirs at Fayette County High School. This audition group of juniors and seniors has a stellar reputation full of rich tradition under the direction of Richard Prouty, along with their new assistant director Becky Mayo. They have performed around the world receiving accolades both nationally and internationally. Along with countless hours of rehearsals, the Select Chorus will be involved in a number of fund raising activities throughout the year to help fund their trip to Europe including their participation in The Great Georgia Air Show at Falcon Field in Peachtree City on Oct. 13 and 14 where they will be selling drinks, frozen lemonade and snacks. The chorus will also performe at Barnes & Noble on Nov.19 at 6 p.m. During the week of Nov. 19-25, Barnes & Noble will donate a portion of the proceeds from everyone who mentions the FCHS Select Chorus during checkout. This will be a great time to start your Christmas shopping. The chorus will be at Barnes & Noble again on Friday, Nov. 23 and Saturday, Nov. 24 to gift wrap your purchases. Donations for gift wrapping are encouraged and greatly appreciated. The annual Fayette County High School Choral Department Holiday Concert will be held on Monday, Dec. 3 at Sams Auditorium in Fayetteville. Once again the concert is free but donations are accepted and appreciated. The chorus will continue their efforts in the new year with the ninth annual Bluegrass Blast and Silent Auction on Jan. 26, 2008 at 7 p.m. again at Sams Auditorium. The concert will feature three top bluegrass bands from the area. Tickets will be available at the door. On Feb. 7 at 7:30 p.m., the chorus will host the Mr. and Mrs. FCHS Talent Contest at Sams Auditorium, and March 13-16 the Select Chorus will present their 31st annual variety show.
