Granville Richard Bunch

Granville Richard (George) Bunch, 89, longtime resident of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., died Aug. 19, 2007, in Peachtree City. He was born July 13, 1918, in Key West, Fla., the eldest son of Eugene Brantley and Margaret Ann Jerguson Bunch. Raised in Thornwell Orphanage in Clinton, S.C., Mr. Bunch graduated in the first senior class of College Park High School. He volunteered for the Air Force in 1940, serving in England, North Africa and Italy. An automobile mechanic by trade, he served as an elder in the Bethany Presbyterian, Calvary Presbyterian and Rio Vista Community Churches throughout his life. He was married for 48 years to Jessie Marie Winford, who died in 1995. He is survived by two daughters, Lynn Bunch Donham of Decatur and Gwen Bunch Garrison of Peachtree City; five granddaughters, Jennifer Lynn Donham, Megan Leigh Hinson, Allison Nicole Hinson, Stefanie Marie Donham and Vanessa Claire Hinson; three step-grandchildren, Laura Kay Garrison, Sarah Ann Garrison Black, and Christopher William Garrison; and a step-great granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann Black; nieces, Sandra Winford Parrot, Ann Winford Tuttle, Yvonne Winford Thompson, and Lynn Gibson Richardson; nephews, Kenneth Winford, Richard Winford, and Robert Mack Winford. A celebration and memorial service was held Saturday, Aug. 25, 2007 at Oakhurst Baptist Church in Decatur. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Oakhurst Recovery Program, a residential rehabilitation program for men, at 222 East Lake Drive, Decatur, GA 30030, in honor of Granville Bunch. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Peachtree City, was in charge.
