Four Catholic churches in the Fayette-Coweta area will join forces Saturday, Nov. 3 for a massive casino night fundraiser, “Fun at the Falcon,” to be held at the Dixie Wing Hangar at Falcon Field airport in Peachtree City.

Proceeds from the evening will benefit the outreach ministries of the four Catholic parishes: St. Matthew’s in Tyrone; St. Gabriel’s in Fayetteville; Holy Trinity in Peachtree City; and St. Mary Magdalene’s in Newnan. In most cases, the outreach will be made through the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

The entire ensemble of the Dixie Wing Commemorative Air Force will be moved to the tarmac at Falcon Field, leaving the spacious Dixie Wing Hangar as the place for partying. Additional tents will be added in some areas outside the hangar for food preparation. The hangar will be transformed into a Las Vegas-like setting.

Tickets are $50 and include more than $30 in coupons.

Dancing, dinner, live band, auctions and a wide range of casino offerings are the featured entries in the evening’s event. Dinner will be catered by Carrabba’s and casino activities will follow. Chips and a goody-bag of coupons are included with each ticket.

Desserts wil be offered by The Georgia Shrimp Co and Rita’s, and Starbuck’s will provide the coffee. Other beverages will be available. The Peachtree Jazz Edition, an 18-piece band, will provide classic jazz and music from the Big Band era.

Auctions will offer a variety of items and special prizes, with door prizes awarded during the evening.

The beneficiary of proceeds, the St. Vincent de Paul Society, is an international entity run by lay people of each parish. It provides funding, food, clothing and other services to the needy of the area and is supported by monthly collections in the parish.

In recent months, these funds have almost dried up due to the increased needs of local residents. Guests are asked to bring canned or staple goods to the event to be added to St. Vincent de Paul’s food banks.

Tickets may be obtained from Deacon Bill Hampton at St. Matthews in Tyrone (770-964-5804), Tim Thomas at St. Mary Magdalene in Newnan (770-254-1371), Donna Argonette at St. Gabriel’s in Fayetteville (678-817-1819), and Frank Destadio at Holy Trinity in Peachtree City (678-662-2606).
