Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Thiel, 88, Fayetteville, died Dec. 12, 2005. She loved animals and baseball, and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She had lived in Fayette County for 26 years. Memorial services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with Larry Ludwig officiating. Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Francis Thiel, Fayetteville; daughters, Jackie Ludwig, Fayetteville, Judith Yu, Fayetteville, and Nancy Barandow, Olean, N. Y. ; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lorraine Deoskey, Olympia, Wash. Memorial donations may be made at Noah’s Ark, 712 LG-Griffin Road, Locust Grove, GA 30248. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville, was in charge.
