Cavin Foster Sullivan, 65, passed away in his home in Newnan. September 19, 2007 following an apparent stroke. He had lived in Newnan since his retirement from the US Army in 1989 as a Lieutenant Colonel. He was born in Big Spring, TX September 17, 1942 to Lawrence and Pauline Sullivan and graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1961. He attended Tarleton State University and received a BS in Government in 1965 and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant at that time. He was a member of the Los Caballeros and Madrigal singers. Cavin served with the First Infantry Division in Vietnam and received the Combat Infantryman Badge, Bronze Star (2 awards), Air Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (2 awards), and Army Commendation Medal (3 awards). He served in Korea as well as Heidelberg, W.Germany and retired at Ft. McPherson, Ga. where he served as Inspector General. Following his retirement, Cavin worked for Schneider Trucking. Cavin was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Pauline Sullivan and a niece, Carla Fore of Breckenridge, TX and is survived by three children; Melissa Autrey of Abilene, TX , Brent Sullivan and Shaun Sullivan of Euless, TX and their mother, Janice Taylor, of Salado, TX; five grand-daughters, Staci Autrey, Cassie Sullivan, Leigh Ann Sullivan, Brianna Boyer, and Caleigh Sullivan; two sisters, Sylvia Stanley and husband Jim of Chandler, Az. and Julie Fore and husband, Carter of Breckenridge, Tx. and five nieces, two nephews, and numerous great-nieces and nephews. Services were held Sept. 27 at McKoon Funeral Home in Newnan. Interment will be followed at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va. Cavin was a polio survivor and the family asks that memorials in lieu of flowers be sent to the March of Dimes or their favorite charity. login to post comments |
