Wayne H. Stone, 79, died September 26, 2007 at his home in Newnan, GA after a long illness. He was born December 30, 1927 in Seneca, SC to the late Carl & Maude Holliday Stone. He served in the Army and was a veteran of WWII & Korea. He spent his entire professional career with Belk Department Stores, beginning in Florida in the shoe department and advancing to Executive Vice-President of the Belk Atlanta Group where he was responsible for 35 stores. Upon retirement from Belk, he moved to Newnan to raise cattle and hay. He was an active member of the Georgia Cattleman's Association. He is survived his wife, Phyllis Day Stone; son, Wayne H. Stone, Jr., daughters, Nancy L. Stone, Teri Stone Pirie; sister, Nancy Singleton; brother, Theron Stone; grandchildren, Kristen Pirie &Paige Pirie; numerous nieces & nephews.
The funeral was held Sept. 28 in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home in Newnan. Internment was at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
