Year: Sophomore What she does: Runs cross country for the Lady Panthers. How she came to running: “My cousin forced me to run with her and get some exercise and I realized how much I liked it. Last year was the first time I ran competitively, I had no idea I’d be any good at it.” Career highlights: Sample broke 19 minutes in her last meet and took first place in the Bulldog Stampede at UGA in Athens. Goals in cross country: “To break 19 minutes at Carrollton (the site of the state meet), to take first place in the state meet for the next three years and just be the best I can be.” On running with her twin sister, Jenny: “We have a really great connection and I know I can always count on her.” On music: “I don’t really listen to anything when I go out running, but I like anything up-tempo.
