Wednesday was an emotional night for McIntosh senior ace Morgan Kidd, who pitched at her school’s home field for the final time in her career.

Kidd confounded the Sandy Creek Lady Patriots, turning in a two-hit, 12-strikeout, complete-game performance in McIntosh’s 7-0 victory, its fifth straight, in Peachtree City.

Kidd ended her career on her home field the same way it started — with a strikeout.

Red-hot McIntosh (14-2, 7-1 region) enters next week’s Region 2-AAAA tournament as the No. 2 seed.

As well as Kidd pitched against Sandy Creek, ranked eighth in Class AAA, she wasn’t the only Lady Chief who stood out in McIntosh’s regular-season finale. Three McIntosh players had two hits: Jessica Conaway (2-for-4, three RBI, one run scored), Amber Shaw (2-for-4, two RBI, two runs scored) and Nicole Fox (2-for-4, one RBI, one run scored).

Conaway opened the scoring with a two-run single in the bottom of the first inning.

Shannon Reno made it 3-0 in the third with an RBI single.

McIntosh kept piling on the runs, scoring four runs in the fifth.

Fox hit an RBI single, Shaw hit a two-run double, and Conaway hit an RBI single in the inning.
