Dwight Ogier is named interim rector at Nativity

The Rev. Dr. Dwight Ogier has been named interim rector at the Episcopal Church of the Nativity in Fayetteville. Ogier will serve in a full time capacity for the church until a permanent rector has been called.

Ogier is a Ft. Benning native and has served as an Episcopal priest since 1972. He has served many churches in the southeast as a rector, most recently at The Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit in Cumming where he resides. He also resides in Fayetteville.

Ogier is a graduate of University of the South, Sewanee, Tenn. as well as Berkley Divinity/Yale University, New Haven, Conn. and The Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. He is a certified interim minister and has vast pastoral experience with all levels of parish ministry.

Ogier will continue the Episcopal Church of the Nativity’s community outreach programs including the inter faith council in Fayetteville. He has served many summer ministries including the most recent Hurricane Katrina mission with the Episcopal clergy of the Diocese of Atlanta.

He is a certified trauma first responder as well as the chaplain of the Forsyth County Fire Department.

“Father ‘O’ is a man of many talents and hobbies,” a church spokesperson said. “He is an active outdoorsman and photographer as well as lover of sailing. He will be a great addition to the Fayette County community. He and his wife, Babs, are also the owners of ‘Shrimperoo & Crabs, Too!’ specializing in Cajun and low country cooking.”
